Privacy Policy

Last reviewed: 2026-09-28

Effective 28 September 2026. This version replaces the policy previously published at ezpyd.github.io/pause-moment-privacy.

This policy covers the website pause-moment.com and the Pause Moment Android app. Pause Moment is made and operated by Ezra Halevi, an individual developer based in Israel. For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].

The short version

What stays on your phone

Everything you create in the app is stored only on your device: the photo you choose for a pause, the message you write, your pause schedule and durations, the history of completed and skipped pauses with their timestamps, your preferences, and the contacts you mark as Safe People. The app has no user accounts and no cloud sync. When you uninstall the app, this data is deleted with it.

The app asks for certain Android permissions to do its job: camera and photos to set your pause image, contacts to let you choose Safe People, notifications and exact alarms to start a pause on time, display over other apps and Do Not Disturb access to hold the screen during a pause, and phone state to let an incoming call through. These permissions are used only for those features. The data they touch is not sent anywhere.

What leaves your phone, and why

Four kinds of information leave the device. None of them include your photos, your words, or your pause history.

1. Crash reports (always on)

When the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) sends a report: the technical stack trace, your device model, Android version, app version, free memory and storage at the time, and a random installation identifier that Crashlytics generates. This is used only to find and fix bugs. Crash reports are kept by Google for 90 days. Legal basis in the EU and UK: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working.

2. Usage statistics (planned, opt-in, off by default)

The current version of the app sends no usage statistics. A future version will add a switch in Settings; this section describes how it will work so the policy does not change under you. If you turn on "Share anonymous usage data" in the app, Firebase Analytics (a Google service) records events such as app opened, screen viewed, pause started, pause completed or skipped, purchase made, and app uninstalled, together with your device model, Android version, app version, and the country derived from your IP address. Events are tied to a random app-instance identifier, not to your name, email, or advertising ID; advertising ID collection is disabled. This helps us see which features are used and where people stop using the app. You can turn it off at any time in the app settings, and collection stops immediately. User-level analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months; aggregated reports contain no individual identifiers. Legal basis: your consent.

3. Purchases

Paid features are sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We receive a purchase confirmation (order identifier, product, purchase token, time) so the app can unlock what you bought. We never receive your card or bank details. Legal basis: performing the purchase you asked for.

4. Messages you send us

If you use the feedback option in the app or email support, we receive your email address, your message, and any device details you choose to include. We keep support correspondence for up to 24 months so we can follow up, then delete it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

The website

pause-moment.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The site sets no cookies and loads no advertising or social-media trackers. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without storing anything in your browser. Cloudflare's servers keep standard request logs (IP address, browser type, page requested) for a short period for security and abuse prevention under Cloudflare's privacy policy; we do not access individual visitor logs.

Two pages store a small flag in your browser's local storage: the homepage remembers that you closed the bottom banner, and the iOS page prevents the waitlist form from being submitted twice in one minute. Neither flag identifies you or leaves your browser.

The iOS waitlist form on /ios/ sends your email address to Loops (Astrodon Inc., United States), the service that will send the single launch email. Giving your email is voluntary; if you do not, you simply will not receive that email. Your address is deleted within 30 days after the launch email is sent, unless you reply asking to stay on a future list. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw by emailing [email protected].

Links to Google Play, research sources, and other sites lead to pages with their own privacy practices.

Who receives data

We do not sell personal data, rent it, or share it with advertisers. The only recipients are service providers that process data on our instructions:

We will disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.

International transfers

Pause Moment is operated from Israel. The European Commission recognises Israel as providing adequate data protection (decision renewed 31 January 2024), so data can flow from the EU to Israel without extra safeguards. The service providers above are in the United States; Google and Loops are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and use Standard Contractual Clauses where needed. Crash and usage data contain no direct identifiers.

How long data is kept

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was done before. Under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law you have the right to inspect and correct information held about you. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you can also complain to your local data protection authority; under Brazil's LGPD you can petition the ANPD. We honour these requests for everyone, wherever you live.

To exercise any right, email [email protected] from the address you want us to act on. We answer within 30 days. Crash reports cannot be linked to you (they carry no name, email, or account), so there is no deletion request process for them; they are deleted automatically within 90 days. The data we hold that can be matched to you, a waitlist email or a support conversation, is deleted on request. To delete everything the app stores on your phone, uninstall it.

Children

Pause Moment is for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you are below the age of digital consent in your country, leave usage statistics switched off. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

Security

Everything sent from the app or the website travels over HTTPS. Your content never leaves the device, which is the strongest protection we can offer for it. If you set a device lock, your Pause Moment content is covered by it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and the new version is published here. If a change affects data already collected from you, the app will tell you before it applies.
